After the brutal blizzard of 2010 that has kept so many of us indoors why not ring in 2011 in style. We suggest celebrate at the Cupping Room Cafe. Located in the heart of SoHo it is warm, charming, chic and delicious. (Coincidently, also all qualities that are required in my friends.) With its embracing attitude it is a local favorite and a genuine experience. Gather your loved ones for a post night on the town brunch you'll never forget.
On July 14, 2009, the New York Times Company announced that the 96.3 FM frequency would be transferred to another station and that they were selling WQXR. What followed is an amazing story of the power of classical music and classical music lovers to save one of the landmarks of live classical music for New York City and America.

“Visionary precision, fearless exploration, and unlimited scope have placed the Kronos Quartet at the forefront of contemporary music for nearly 40 years. Performed by Kronos with the 14 musicians of Gamelan Galak Tika (Evan Ziporyn, artistic director) using the virtual Gamelan Elektrika, designed and developed by Harmonix’s Alex Rigopulos (of Guitar Hero and Rock Band), Super Collider juxtaposes two sound worlds and traditions, the string quartet and the ancient gamelan, through the unlimited sonic universe of electronics.

South African born Ashton Nyte is something of a prolific singer/songwriter, producer and stage performer. The artist has released five solo albums in addition to nine albums fronting one of South Africa's most prominent alternative rock bands, though his solo style is decidedly acoustic-focused. However he caught our attention when we heard him described as "Johannesburg's Bowie." Check him out Tuesday June 29 at Fontana’s at 7pm for his CD Release Show. See you there!

Check out their final US show Saturday May 1st, 11:30 PM at Joe’s Pubbefore they head back to Barcelona, Spain for the famous Sonar Festival in June.
Dead Meadow is one of those underground bands that is surfacing with a vengeance. Their psychedelic rock sounds once described as “heavy, dreamy, trippy, expansive, reflective and evocative” band together youths, seething for something fresh, and the romantics, longing for the hard rock of the 70’s and the psychedelics from the 60’s. Thus Dead Meadow has elicited a cult like following. And they also made a movie…
