T. Schreiber Studio and Theatre will hold a Salute to New York Theatre at the Maritime Hotel on Monday, November 12, beginning at 6pm. The event will feature the presentation of TSS 2012 Outstanding Achievement Awards to Tony Award-winning actress Judith Light, who is scheduled to return to Broadway later this season in The Assembled Parties; Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright John Patrick Shanley; and NY1 theater critic Roma Torre. Julie Halston will serve as host.

As part of it’s 30th anniversary celebration the Hunger Action Network has been holding events around the state, honoring the work of the many who have dedicated themselves to eliminating hunger and poverty. On World Food Day, Tuesday, October 16th, they will hold one such gathering in New York City. “Cream of the Crop” will include light refreshments from local purveyors and chefs including Mary Cleaver, Liz Neumark, Hawthorne Valley and many others, as well as Brooklyn Brewery, with DJ Shomi Noise to get you on your feet! 


StraightTalk is a three day annual event that begins on October 12th, bringing together LGBT influencers for a weekend of discussion and debate, where politicians, business professionals, celebrities, and educators explore issues important to the LGBT community.


AFA and Sloan Fine Art are pleased to present “Awakened,” a ten day exhibition and fundraising event, inspired by, and benefiting the pet companions that brighten all of our lives.  For this special exhibition, curator Alix Sloan has challenged over sixty artists to create works inspired by the powerful impact of animals in our lives and homes.  The cocktail reception for “Awakened” is Saturday, September 22nd from 5 to 8pm



On August 18th, FringeNYC presents I’m Sorry, a one-woman play, written and performed by Katy Lidsky, about how a people-pleasing apologist became an animal-loving activist. Funny and poignant, this hour-long dramedy, focuses on one woman's journey to finding her voice.

 


The Special Olympics New York Junior Committee is at it again on August7th.
