AL FRANKEN'S "GOD SPOKE" AT THE IFC: 4/14/09 AT 8PM.
God spoke to Al Franken. First, he decreed, gain fame on SNL. Second, said God, become notorious for your political satires. And third, progress into politics. Franken listened.
God Spoke is a smart (and hilarious) documentary about Franken’s evolution from funny man and activist to funny man and political candidate. The film follows Franken from his days campaigning for John Kerry in 2004 to his decision to run for the Minnesota Senate in 2008. By filmmakers, Nick Doob, Chris Hegedus and D A Pennebaker, it follows Franken on what wound up being a profound and unexpected journey.
God Spoke screens Tuesday Night at the IFC. And while the Minessta race may still be undecided my recommendation for this is certain. Go see it.
