Ashton Nyte CD Release Party

South African born Ashton Nyte is something of a prolific singer/songwriter, producer and stage performer. The artist has released five solo albums in addition to nine albums fronting one of South Africa's most prominent alternative rock bands, though his solo style is decidedly acoustic-focused. However he caught our attention when we heard him described as "Johannesburg's Bowie." Check him out Tuesday June 29 at Fontana’s at 7pm for his CD Release Show. See you there!

Nyte's signature style combines acoustic guitar with deeply baritone vocals, yet vocal range is extremely broad and instrumentation has ranged from tender guitar and piano ballads to fully produced epic rock. Best described as a compulsive songwriter, Ashton's singles as a solo artist have fallen in to genres of AAA, Americana, singer/songwriter, lo-fi indie rock and alternative country. His prominent influences include David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Bono, Neil Young, Nick Cave, Lou Reed, Johnny Cash and Tom Waits.
