BEN JONES’S “THE NEW DARK AGE” AT DEITCH PROJECTS THROUGH 2/28/09.

Thanks to Daily Candy for the heads up.

Don’t miss the last days of “The New Dark Age” by Ben Jones at Deitch Projects on Grand Street.  This ‘trippy’ and very neon exhibit of different mediums (video sculpture, light paintings and “drawing in the digital age”) views as a modern synthesis of primitive websites fused with the old board game ‘Shoots & Ladders.’  Jones’s past as a comic book artist is also distinctly present in its cast of characters, which he dons in “Neon Aztec Organic Spandex.”  It’s wild and worth a viewing.

The exhibition consists of consists of five components of equal importance to the artist: Ladders, Minimalism, Cartoon Drawings, Dogs, and Bricks. Buy a pizza and throw it into a dog park. Build a doghouse out of bricks. Draw cartoons to sell to street wear corporations and gorge yourself on soft pretzels. Then come to the exhibition.”
