BOROUGH PRESIDENT SCOTT STRINGER ENDORSES CY VANCE.

Borough President Scott Stringer sent out a letter endorsing Cy Vance for Manhattan District Attorney.  Here it is below:

Friends,

Yesterday, I announced my support for Cy Vance to be the next Manhattan District Attorney.  Of all the races that will come before the voters on September 15th -- for Mayor, for Public Advocate, for Comptroller -- this is the office that will matter most to the everyday lives of people in Manhattan.  I wholeheartedly endorsed Cy Vance because I am convinced, without a doubt, that Cy Vance is the right person to provide the type of leadership that this important office demands.

Please help us deliver this leadership with a donation or by volunteering your time to let voters know about the stakes in this election.

Manhattan needs a District Attorney with the temperament, the ability to listen, and the judgment to do what's right for the borough.  Cy gets it.  He understands that Manhattan is only as strong as its diverse communities.  Throughout his campaign he has spent time in every corner of our island.  He has listened to our concerns and offered a vision that reflects this understanding and promises to make our communities partners in his administration.  At the same time, I believe one of Cy's greatest strengths is his unique perspective as a nationally recognized litigator.  That perspective will not only make him a better District Attorney, it will help preserve the office's reputation as the gold standard of prosecutorial excellence in the nation.

I was joined yesterday in endorsing Cy Vance by Council Member Jessica Lappin, the Black Law Enforcement Alliance, the Barack Obama Club of East Harlem and the Amsterdam News -- five endorsements in one day. There's a reason that so many of us have declared our support for Cy.  It's not often that the Amsterdam News and New York Post agree, but sometimes the choice is just that obvious.
