BUILD A PARK IN GREENWICH VILLAGE

A letter from Tobi Bergman, Chair of Community Board 2 Parks Committee:

On Hudson Street between Houston and Clarkson, right across the street from JJ Walker Field, there is a city-owned lot where construction was recently completed on a shaft connecting to a new water pipe. More than ten years ago, when the project was planned, the Department of Environmental Protection promised to make the lot available for a new park upon completion of work. Because this is such a large space, it is a very unusual opportunity to increase park space.

On Wednesday, January 6, at a meeting of the Parks Committee of Community Board 2, a committee that I chair, DEP will update the community on this space and two others. If these projects move forward now, new parks could be completed in two years. The purpose of this meeting is an exchange of information between DEP, elected officials, and the community, so it's important that people come to the meeting to express interest in this park. I hope you will able to come.

Meeting of Community Board 2 Parks Committee
