Council Member Chin Gives Thanks to Congressmen Who Aided Important 9/11 Health Bill

The House Energy and Commerce Committee approved the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act, a long sought after bill that would provide over four and half billion dollars in health coverage for those who worked at the World Trade Center after the 9/11 attacks.

"I want to say thank you to Congressman Nadler and Congresswoman Maloney for their work on the Zadroga 9/11 Health Bill, and congratulations on the bill's passage out of committee late last night,” As a resident of lower Manhattan and a neighbor of the WTC site, the fact that these two leaders were able to preserve the community component of this bill is really meaningful. Not only do we have an obligation to remember and care for our first responders, but we also must look out for the community and the residents who have been here since before September 11th, 2001, and have stayed in lower Manhattan to rebuild our neighborhood. I want to thank Congressman Nadler, my representative in Congress, and Congresswoman Maloney, a real fighter for us and all New Yorkers, for their work sheparding this bill through committee last night. I look forward to working with them in any way I can to make sure the Zadroga Bill is signed by President Obama this year."
