D.A. Attorney Vance’s Statement on the Death of Former Staten Island D.A. William Murphy

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr., issued the following statement on the death of former Staten Island District Attorney William Murphy:

 

“Staten Island District Attorney William Murphy exemplified public service during his distinguished career as Staten Island’s longest-serving District Attorney, and as an Assistant District Attorney in Manhattan. As Richmond County’s top prosecutor, DA Murphy’s work extended beyond the courtroom as he fought for tougher environmental laws and better funding for prosecutor’s offices. His service both in the District Attorney’s Office and on the many non-profit boards to which he donated his time serves as a model for all citizens. My thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues.”
