D.A. Vance to Speak at the 25th Annual Crime Victim’s Candlelight Vigil— Sunday at 2PM.
Celebrating the 35th Anniversary of the New York County District Attorney's Office Witness Aid Services Unit
Every year the Annual Crime Victims' Candlelight Vigil provides a special forum for victims and advocates to remember homicide victims and to honor the struggle of others harmed by crime. The theme of this year's Vigil is “25 Years of Transforming Lives.” The program will focus on supporting and recognizing pioneers and service providers in the field of community advocacy, healing and crime prevention.
This year's Vigil will provide a special opportunity for District Attorney Vance to recognize and celebrate the 35th anniversary of the New York County District Attorney's Office Witness Aid Services Unit (WASU), one of the first such units in the country. Since its inception, Witness Aid has helped hundreds of thousands of victims to confront the emotional trauma resulting from victimization and has facilitated victim cooperation in the prosecution of our cases.
