Downtown Alliance Will Honor the 2009 Yankees With a Sidewalk Marker in the Canyon of Heroes— Today at 11am!
New York Yankees Manager Joe Girardi will join Elizabeth H. Berger, President of the Alliance for Downtown New York, to unveil a black granite strip commemorating last fall’s ticker-tape parade for the 2009 World Series champions. Surrounding them will be a dozen members of the Downtown Little League Yankees.
The Downtown Alliance—manager of the Business Improvement District for Lower Manhattan—has embedded a sidewalk strip in the Canyon of Heroes for each of the 204 ticker-tape parades that have proceeded from Battery Park up Broadway to City Hall in the last 124 years.
