MABOU MINES DOLLHOUSE AT ST. ANN’S WAREHOUSE: 2/12/9 THROUGH 3/8/9.
After a 5-year world tour Mabou Mines DollHouse will return to St. Ann’s Warehouse to “transform [Henrik] Ibsen's bourgeois tragedy into high comedy with a deep bite.”
Ibsen’s original, “A Doll’s House,” was widely considered the first feminist play. Mabou Mines expands on its commentary by illustrating its themes of gender and power through the physicality of its actors; the men’s heights range from 3’4” to 4’5” while the women near 6’0”. It’s a palpable depiction of our patriarchal society and its stifling capabilities, yet fun.
