More Endorsements: Senator David Valesky and Upstate Leaders For Schneiderman

A press release from Attorney General Candidate, State Senator Eric Schneiderman:

Following Downstate Launch and Major Statewide Endorsements, Surging AG Candidate Lands Key Upstate Support

SYRACUSE – The Attorney General campaign of Eric Schneiderman received a major boost today with the endorsement of Democratic State Senator David Valesky. Valesky joins over 50 progressive reformers – and the leadership of 1199/SEIU United Healthcare East – in endorsing Schneiderman’s candidacy in recent days.

“Eric Schneiderman is smart, tough and tireless in fighting for what’s right for hardworking New Yorkers. Eric doesn’t just talk a good game, he delivers. Eric’s challenged the status quo in Albany, and he’s been a leader in taking on Medicaid Fraud to protect our tax dollars. Eric Schneiderman understands the concerns of Central New York and I am confident that he will continue to be an advocate for the people of Syracuse as Attorney General,” said Senator David Valesky (D-Oneida).

“I am thrilled to have the support of Senator Valesky - he's a real reformer and I look forward to working with him as Attorney General,” said Eric Schneiderman. "This campaign is about addressing the issues facing everyday New Yorkers. These issues affect all of us, whether it’s attacking mortgage fraud, stopping insurance abuses, or protecting our neighborhoods from crime. It's time to think big and get results for the people of this state."

Schneiderman also picked up the endorsement today of Onondaga County Legislator Thomas C. Buckel, Jr.

“I’m proud to endorse Eric Schneiderman to be the next Attorney General of New York. In this distinguished field of candidates, Eric stands out as the best choice to replace Andrew Cuomo and continue his record of outstanding service,” said Buckel.

With widespread support from a broad and diverse coalition of progressive New Yorkers and leaders of 1199/SEIU United Healthcare East, Schneiderman is building on momentum from the downstate launch of his campaign to be the state’s next Attorney General. Schneiderman was joined last Saturday at a press conference by over 25 federal, state and city elected officials, Democratic Party leaders – including U.S. Representatives Jerry Nadler, Charles Rangel and Jose Serrano, NYC Public Advocate Bill de Blasio and NYC Council Speaker Christine Quinn – as well a host of prominent community activists.

On Wednesday, Schneiderman announced that his campaign won the support of the leadership of the powerful 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, and the union expects Schneiderman will be formally endorsed by its Executive Council later this month.
