Stonewall Democrats of NYC Endorse Schneiderman for Attorney General
A press release from candidate for Attorney General, State Senator Eric Schneiderman:
LGBT Sweep For Lifelong Progressive Democrat Schneiderman
NEW YORK – Stonewall Democrats of NYC, the largest and only citywide LGBT Democratic club in New York City, overwhelmingly voted to endorse lifelong Democrat Eric Schneiderman for Attorney General. Reflecting broad support for Eric’s record as a progressive champion for LGBT equality, Stonewall joins Gay and Lesbian Independent Democrats (GLID) and Lambda Independent Democrats (LID) in support for his candidacy.
“I am absolutely honored to have the overwhelming support of the Stonewall Democrats of NYC, an organization that has been fighting for justice on the front lines for years and delivering real progressive change for LGBT New Yorkers. We have stood side-by-side fighting for equality, and I will be your champion as Attorney General. Together, we will bring equal justice to the people of every corner of this state, without regard to race, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability,” said Eric Schneiderman.
In recent weeks, Schneiderman has been endorsed by GLID, New York’s first gay and lesbian Democratic club; and Lambda Independent Democrats (LID), Brooklyn’s oldest and largest lesbian and gay organization and one of the state’s largest lesbian and gay political clubs.
With widespread support from a broad and diverse coalition of progressive New Yorkers and the unanimous endorsement of the state’s largest labor union, 1199/SEIU United Healthcare East and the influential 32BJ, momentum is growing for Schneiderman’s campaign to be the state’s next Attorney General.
To date, Eric Schneiderman has won the endorsement of over fifty federal, state and local elected officials including U.S. Representatives Jerry Nadler, Charles Rangel and Jose Serrano, Democratic Conference Leader John Sampson, NYC Public Advocate Bill de Blasio, NYC Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Citizen Action of New York, a host of prominent community activists, and labor unions including the UAW and Uniformed Sanitationmen’s Association.
