AN UPDATE FROM THE CHINATOWN WORKING GROUP
An update from the Chinatown Working Group following Monday’s meeting:
The CWG unanimously voted to adopt a set of Guiding Principles developed by its Working Teams (click here). This was a great step in the community to move ahead with consensus-driven planning.
The CWG also voted to develop a Community-Based 197-a Plan for Chinatown to help guide future actions by City agencies. (Click here for a description of a 197-a Plan.)
Again, don't forget - CWG Town Hall on February 1, 2010, 7pm at PS 130 Hernando de Soto, 143 Baxter Street. The Town Hall will focus on community concerns ranging from Affordability, Job Development and Education to Transportation and Zoning. During this meeting, our working group will solicit feedback from the community on recommendations to proposed plans of action for achieving our goals. This will be a working session where everyone is encouraged to participate in smaller breakout “charrette” groups, honing in on specific topics of interest or issues. Feedback from the smaller sessions will help further refine our wider action plan for the community. Bilingual translation will be made available. As with all CWG meetings, everyone is welcome to attend.
The next full CWG Meeting will be Monday, January 11, *6-8pm at American Legion Post 1291, 2nd Floor, 191-193 Canal Street. (* We are meeting from 6-8pm to accommodate those who can't attend during the work day.)
