VISUAL MUSIC MARTATHON @ VISUAL ARTS THEATER: 4/11/9, 10 AM—10PM.

Marjan Moghaddam and Adam Caine

Music and moving images, in a better world, would be like chocolate and peanut butter: an immensely satisfying no-brainer. Yet anyone who has seen what passes for music videos these days (VH1 still plays them weekday mornings) could tell you that they're more like too much sugar in burnt coffee: lots of unhealthy distraction from a main ingredient that isn't even worth consuming.

Fortunately, not everyone is trying to be the next Hype Williams.

The Visual Music Martathon
is a showcase of the work of over 120 digital video artisits and musicians; submissions were received from 33 countries and the best of them were assembled for your viewing and listening pleasure. These pieces tend to be trippy and abstract, with visual impact taking precedence over any kind of a narrative. You won't mind.

The event is free and runs all day. Be sure to get there at 7pm for two live performances, including a collaboration between visual artist Marjan Moghaddam and experimental guitarist extraordinaire Adam Caine. You should go.
